Looking for nice street and strip cam. Don't really care about idle , I like the sound of a cammed out car and can deal with some low end lose , but not to much . Here's what i've found and if anyone else knows of any better setups out there , let me know. Okay i've looked at 4 sets of cams , HKS , Crower , cosworth and GSC HKS 272/272 or 264/272 10.8/10.2MM Crower 272/272 10.54/9.86mm Cosworth 272/272 11/11mm GSC 268/266 10.5/10.5 GSC stage 2 is like 274/272 and 11/11mm. I know lift provides more air , but so doesn't duration too?and i know duration is the amount of time the valve is open. So can someone exlpain to me the difference in lifts and what is the up side and down side of the cams.

What cam you should get depends highly on the other modifications, if any, you plan to make. If you plan on making a turbo upgrade you should go with any of the 272/272 cams and get the ones with a high lift. Keep in mind you'll need other supporting mods when upgrading your turbo and cams though. If you plan on sticking with the stock turbo and not doing too much to the car then go with the 264/272 or GSC 268/272; I suggest the 264/272.

Well my plans include a FP green turbo , 3 in. turbo back exhaust , lightened pulleys , big fuel pump , jester tunning reflash , bigger intercooler , all the i/c pipes , forge bov , light weight fly wheel and clutch exedy clutch. ss turbo header , ss o2 housing , So i'm looking max out my bolt ons for now and next year do a stroker kit. but till the stroker kit i'm using the stock springs and retainers and don't want to bind a spring or flot a valve.

If you are going to stick with stock springs and retainers go with the GSC S1 cams. They are made with the stock valve train in mind and give really good power in the midrange. Once you get your stroker kit you'll want to upgrade the cams to some type of 272 duration cam.

thanks . What do you thinnk for skunk 2 cams , i was looking at there stage 1 cams and they were 264/272 and 10.8/10.3 . Now i heard from a dsm/evo shop in ct that the 03 evo came with crower retainers and springs which was the only year they did this . Have you heard this ? Now whats the max lift in mm i can go with , with out binding a spring and what durtion without floating a valve. The more i think about it i just might go ahead and do my springs and retainers . For the few hundred bucks i'd rather spend that then a few grand after a piston goes into my piston
