hey guys, im totally new to modding eclipses. i own a 06 v6 mustang and have just started modding it and i got my cousin into madding too. he owns obviously a 3rd gen eclipse gts and i just wanted to ask a couple of questions. he just bought a k&n CAI and i recommended him to buy a tuner/programmer/w/e u want to call it too. hes never heard of one for eclipses and i thinks thats impossible. there r so many for my mustang and i imagine that its the same for any car. if theres one that works best w/ k&n plz let me kno and also if u could let me kno of a subtle, not too loud, ot too quite cat back exhaust system please let me kno as well. thnk u very much.

You can buy an EMS system for a 3rd Gen. Eclipse.check AEM.  good luck finding a "quiet " cat back.  It all depends on the muffler.  As far as going performance, a 3rd Gen. GTS is terrible.  The pistons are crap and can only take about 6 PSI and supercharging it is way more expensive than turboing it.  Other than that it's EXPENSIVE to get power out of the motor. If you're planning on doing small mods (Your friend), I'd get a AEM Uego Wideband with an APEXI SAFC-II  air fuel controller instead of buying the Engine Management system due to cost efficiency.

a CAI wont add anything.  Maybe a few WHP.  add a SAFC and have it tuned youll get 10WHP more at best but that is all

no.. there are no chips technically.   The SAFC is like a chip but it allows you to control your tune and change your AFR.   Just have him keep in mind there is not alot of power to be made from these cars.  You either waiste your money buying small mods and stay N\A and youll be able on a GTS to get around 200WHP out of it that is all.  Or you an spend a ton of money and turbo or ripp sds the thing and make big power but not very cost efficient

We should all send a request form to mitsubishi to have them remake the 3rd gen with an awd platform and turbo the V6 with better pistons as stock. YAY!
