I came across this info and was curious if anyone could verify this.

http://www.infobottle.com/    Click on DSM Shifter Kit Information on the left and read what it says. Supposedly it states that the shifter plate is mounted with rubber bushings and if you change them out with metal ones (which they sell the kit) it will make the shifter more accurate when going into gears, they say it's really good when used in conjuction with a short shifter kit. Is this really helpful, or is it more of an over exaggeration.

I think exaggeration is what is going on here. Although im sure it will help some, but it just isnt a huge problem. Personally, i think its someone trying to make a buck : )

It really made me wonder, because my shifter does have to hit the gear just right sometimes or else it wont go in, so I was like hmmmm??? Could this be true.

Its just a bunch of metal washers to replace the rubber ones.  I agree with sebba im sure it helps some but i wouldnt look for any huge difference.

When they say that it helps with more accurate shifting..it's on a small scale.  I'm certain the description was meant to describe the linear movement of the shifts.  I've got a shift kit, short shifter, and shifter link bushings and my shift movements have narrowed....A LOT.  With worn out rubber bushings on the shift linkage and worn out rubber inserts on the base the shifter movement will be wide.  I've compared my buddies GS-T shifter movement and his is 'loose' compared to mine, almost more 'accurate', if you will, with shifting into the correct gear....my 5th gear felt like his 2nd gear.  That's how wide of an 'H' his was compared to mine.
It has nothing to do with being able to get into gear better though.  That's all tranny there, whatever the variables may be.
