hey, how long should the clear coat on a wing last on average. Also is there anything that can be done to make it last longer? I was thinkin' about gettin' a sheet of clear plastic to cover it, the same material used to make the clear bra's for the front of the car to avoid rock chippage. u guys think that would work?

no that wont work.  My wing was perfect at 12K miles by the time 2 years went by the wing was awful it looked lik stained milk on the top all across it.   the new wing so far a year and not a mark on it. just gotta wax it ALOT.  and try to keep for storring the car outside,  its the sun and weather that kills them not rock chips

That was also a big problem.  I had my wing relpaced.  There was a rash of wings with the gel coat failing (carbon fiber does not get a clear coat like paint, more like fiberglass).  What they will do if the car is still under warranty is replace it with a new style wing off a 9 (not all carbon like the 8, but they no longer produce those).

I got mine replaced with a brand new all carbon 8 wing,  that was I think a year ago though

Interesting.  I was on a waiting list for over 9 months about 2 years ago now, and finally told them screw it give me the 9 wing.  They said after that that there were no more 8 wings anyway.

My wing took about 4 months to get.

And no the Evo wing is no warrenied for that long that falls under a differnt warrenty.  the VIII gets a 3 year 36000 mile and im sure the IX is the same for the paint warrenty.

I had my wing replaced at 35,600 miles lol waited on purpose till the very end because the spotting started at like 20K for me
