Canadian 08 LS 4WD versus 07 LS 4WD w/Convenience: Added: 1. Colour-keyed door handles 2. FAST key 3. Door panels with insert trim 4. Standard 3rd row seat (from October production) Removed: 1. Cargo cover Price increase: $650. Happy with my 2007 model. I see OEM crossbars listed as accessories, plus ski and bike mounts. No all-weather mats yet. I called the dealer in regards to the crossbars, but they gave me some story which I don't believe. I will wait and see pictures of the actual Canadian crossbars first. The I4 model is pretty well equipped compared to the competition and it still costs less. The fuel ratings are similar to the CRV and RAV4 and a little less than the Rogue. I hate the CVT to the point I wouldn't get an Outlander because of that.

The dealer had an 08 XLS in the showroom during my visit this morning. Honestly, the only difference that I could see at all was a "V6" emblem above the side marker light. It had the air and sound package, but no NAV and looked identical on the inside to the 07s I've seen.

Door panels (with inserts) and chrome door handles are the only differences I can see for the Canadian XLS. The price hike is $700 CAD.

Remember the "wish thread" back at Edmund's? as I've been saying before, these little extras will add somewhat to the cost. Actually I really appreciate all the combo Mitsubishi has done on the 07s, and I wouldn't pay extra for what EU Outlanders have. I think I have more than what I need in the current US 07 combo. But wouldn't that be nice it Mitsu started offering things like backup cam as accssories? I mean, why not offer the whole Japanese catalog to US, ME, CA, or even worldwide. I can wait for a 2 week special order as most of these parts are not critical anyway, as long as I don't pay an arm and a leg for things like spoilers and side skirts.

Don't by the 2.4L. The V6 is vastly superior.

I ran to a nearby dealer at lunch to have a pick at the 08 Outie. The upper door panels are now made out of the same material as the upper dashboard with a fabric insert. They look better IMO. I had the impression that the doors shut with a more solid sound. There is also a plastic cap over the exposed bolt on the right side of the driver seat. The sunvisors and HVAC controls are unchanged. No sunglasses holder either. The LS now has an AUX input on the back of the center floor console. The XLS doesn't have the utility bars in the cargo area anymore.

I know the V6 is better, but according to some autralian et japanese car reviewers, the combined real world mpg for the 2.4 CVT was 26-27mpg, with as much as 35 on highway. Now that it's more like 20city, 25 highway, it does not seem worth it. I also read that the V6 still uses a timing belt, is that right? Seems outdated...
