2004 Outlander problems

paulvanharte -> 2004 Outlander problems (11/1/2007 12:37:44 PM)

I love my Outlander, except the suspension. I live in Canada( cold winters), but I had hoped I would not have to worry about wear and tear on the bushings of several suspension components. In the spring of this year I had $700.00 worth of work done on the front end. Previously under warranty had work done on the rear suspension( all relating to a very noisy suspension, squeaks, etc etc)
Now I have to replace another set of bushing in the rear suspension, another $400.00. I have 77000 km on it. Car is well maintained and not abused.
Mitsubishi Canada says sorry so sad, not prepared to help me out. Come on guys 3 year old vehicle with less than 100.000 km on it, should not have to spend $1100.00 in less than one year to replace "wear and tear" parts. Anybody else have similar issues???

that does not sound good at all.

not much help for you but i abused the living crap out of my Honda, on and off road and replaced 1 set of rear sway bar bushings (under warranty!) during 5 1/2 years / 192k km, still the all-original steering and suspension felt as tight as a man's anus (© Borat Sagdiyev) when i sold the rig.

i'm not that convinced in my Outlander decision anymore :)

Have you owned the car since new? Im not too sure why bushings would go bad. Possibly wheel alignment issues? The work van I use everyday needed a front wheel alignment and it ended up killing the tires, and ball joints and something else in the front end that I forget what it was. Basically im trying to say if something is wrong with the suspension then it will put extra stress on other parts.

No car was bought used, but already had a wheel alignment previously as well. I am having her fixed next week and another wheel alignment will be done as well. Good  point though, I guess its always possible the alignment was off from day one, but I would have noticed excessive tire wear, which did not occur.
Maybe just bad luck for me. I was just dissappointed about the lack of concern on Mitsusbishi's part. Escpecially here in Canada where they are still relatively new.You would think they would go the extra mile to keep a customer happy.

That extra mile is less money in their pocket though.

I have the exact same problem.  I think I'm going to change the suspension parts myself in the spring.
