Hey guys. I have a problem that im facing rite now. Well i have a 2003 evo 8 rite now and its only 5 speed rite. well all of my friends have 6 speed cars like rsx type s,celica gts, s2000, and 06 si. They plan on makin a team with only 6 speed cars rite. well my car is the fastest outa all of them rite now but its only 5 speed. I plan on buyin a 2006 evo mr cus its a six speed and i love my evo. other than that, my second choice is a subaru sti. Or ive heard about the new evo 10 thats comin out in march 2008. should i wait for that? What should i do, should i trade my evo 8 for a evo mr, or sti, or that new evo10, or should i jus keep my car. Your advice would be appreciated.

Keep the dang 5 speed. Tell them their club is retarded because 5 speed is better than the 6 anyways lol.

aight man. thanks for the advise. like i said, they all have six speed but i still ended up beatin them. but hey, you know when i race them from a dead stop, like where we had to launch, i always beat them but one time when me and my buddy who was drivin the rsx type s, we were rollin about 20 miles per hour rite, and we both floored the gas pedal on the third honk and i went ahead of him about almost a whole car but his third gear kicked in and he went passed me. and dont get me wrong, ive raced alot of times already so i know how race my car and he does also. so i did a researched on evo and rsx and what i found out was the rsx has a higher end than the evo is that rite. jus wanted to know if that was true. and remember we was rollin 20 miles per hour and he beated me but from a launch, he couldnt beat me.

Hmm yeah i know thats weird. but when i drove his car, i knew that his car couldnt launch as well as mine (of course evo has great launch) but when i was going 20 miles per hour, and i was on second gear and then i floored the gas pedal and redline it and swithced to third gear, it pulled alot but i can feel that it wasnt as strong as mine but what i notice is that you stay longer on the third gear and fourth gear on a rsx type s than u would on the evo. and i can seriously feel that his car has high end more than mine do. we're both not stock but jus lightly modded. hes runnin 14s and im runnin 12s. like i said before, on a launch i would beat him, but on a roll, he would beat me. and we're both good drivers and we shift pretty well.

First of all.. you obviously dont have enough car knowledge nor do your buddies.  the 6 spd in the MR esspecially is useless.  The MR tranny is JUNK they break very very easily and think about this for one second,  In a race your 5 spd passes a 1\4 mile in 4th gear a 6spd MR or STi you pass in 5th.  What does that mean?   It means you waiste time shifting one extra gear.  Ever notice that the MR is slower every time with equal mods,  The STi is the same thing.  On top of that your car compaired to all your pals has BY A VERY LONG SHOT the most potencial even over the STi.   The only cars that get a good geared 6spd are the high end cars  I E vettes vipers supras ect ect you know the 'Real' cars.  Because short geared 6 spds are only good in autox or road course.   long geard like high end cars are better for highway and Daily driving

The Evo is prob not a 12 sec car,  lets here the mods.   The RSX is not a 16 sec car it is a 14 sec car.  Sebba come on now.  The RSX is one of the best hondas to mod potencail wise on a stock motor.  they hit high 13s with bolt ons and hondata.

I am honestly chalking this up to the driver no offence to you but there is no way his car should have better top end over a turbo car.  Yes your gears are shorter that is not a huge deal.  you realize your powerband doesnt end at 7k right?  you can safely pull it up to 7400 as it is.  With cams and head studs you can pull it to like 7900.  That makes a huge difference, and without a video we cant expalin the only thing it points at is bad driving unless we know mods of each car.  My Evo when I was on the stock turbo would freaking smoke the hell out of those things,  I raced a Civic that was turbo and I have exhaust and intake thats it and I made him look stupid I put like 4 cars on him
