My 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse stalls out on me...Sometimes it does not do it, but other days it does. I have had mechanics look at it, and they just tell me it could be numerous things. If anyone has had this problem please let me know how it was fixed..I could be going any speed and it will just cut out. Please help!!

Yes. I had the O2 sensor replaced a few days back, and then it was off. But when it stalled out on me today it came back on.

Good, that will actually help.

Go to autozone, get them to scan the ECU, and they will tell you what the codes are, and what they mean. Write them down and come back here : )

Its free by the way

I had my work do that already. I work at Ranken Tech college they have a mechanics program, and they put it on a diagnostics machine already. Thats how they found the O2 sensor. I replaced that already, but he told me he don't know why its stalling. Cause that wouldn't cause it. But no codes are popping up. I talked to another mechanic and he says it could be numerous things, fuel filter, fuel pump, regulator for the fuel, stuff like that..but he says its hit or miss..so thats why I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. And had it fixed...

Interesting. So you have a check engine light, but when you go to scan it, it shows no codes?

Is it sometimes hard to start?

I have a service engine soon light. No its never hard to start...It pops right off even after it stalls. But then will die. I wait about 5 minutes and then its fine. It does it once a day normally. but today it did it 3 times in a row. Then was fine. It kind of sputters then when I get to a real slow speed it will actually die.

Is it an abrupt stall out? Or does it stutter and stumble a little, then die?

What this is leading me towards, is a sensor of some kind. My guess is either a cam or crank sensor.

I really wish i could be more help.

I can feel it in the peddle. It stutters a lil bit, then it stalls out, then when I get to a slow speed it will die.

Its electrical im 100% sure of it.

You know that little black box on the intake? Make sure the connector attached to it is on there snug and all the wires going into it look fine. Look for signs of electrical arcing.
