i personally wouldn't buy either.. go for the evo.. or if you want the elcipse buy a gsx... awd turbo. I own a gs as a daily driver and an evo and have plenty of experience with them

they didnt say they were buying one they just wanted to know whats faster, and not everyone can afford an evo. But yes, they are both slow, and IF they were buying a car for speed they would be much better off geting a 1g gsx and it would be cheaper too.

What years though? I'm guessing you are talking about the Eclipse GS vs. the Rally Lancer where both of them are the same production year. If you put a 1992 Eclipse GS up against a standard stock 2006 Lancer, I'm willing to be the Lancer just might win (assuming no mods on the '92).

As for the Evo. I know that I shall respectfully decline a race against one. Can't believe what I saw on the sticker in the window on the '05 I recently viewed (heck, what else do ya do when your car is being serviced?).

Just pulling what I can find off the web:
The O-Z Lancer on one site is quoted as having a 0-60 of 9.5, but no year is quoted. If it's the '05 they are talking about, the Eclipse Spyder GS probably wins out.

Here's the comparison from www.mitsubishicars.com on the '05 O-Z Lancer vs. the '05 Eclipse Spyder GS (I've removed some info to shorten it):

Model: O-Z Lancer Eclipse Spyder GS

Driveline Front Wheel Drive Front Wheel Drive
--------------------
Standard Transmission 5 Speed Manual 5 Speed Manual
--------------------
Stabilizer Bar Standard Standard
--------------------
Brakes (Front) Disc Disc
--------------------
Brakes (Rear) Drum Drum

ENGINE
Engine Type 2.0L I4 2.4L I4
--------------------
Displacement (cc) 1999 2350
--------------------
Horsepower @ RPM 120@5500 147@5500
--------------------
Torque @ RPM 130@4250 158@4000
--------------------
Curb Weight (Manual) 2700 3097
--------------------
Fuel Capacity (gallons) 13.2 16.4
EPA MILEAGE ESTIMATE
Fuel Economy City (mpg) 27 23
--------------------
Fuel Economy Highway (mpg) 34 31

I know this doesn't say flat out which is faster, but between the two above, I'd guess that the Eclipse is faster. She's 300lbs heavier, but has a good amount more on the HP/Torque side.

Now, if you are looking for exact numbers. Can't help you there.

PS: Yeah, I know the formatting of the info is crummy, but it's readable. :)
