When I bought mine they had a whole row with every color. Silver was the only one I was going to look at but didnt have in XLS. So I went with graphite grey. But everytime I go by the dealer (once a month or so) they still have a whole row that has about 12-15 Outties sitting there in an array of colors.

Im in Colorado so SUV's fly of the shelves, guess no one has caught on to the new Outties here. Ive only seen I think 3 on the road here in Denver... Arapahoe Mitsubishi: http://www.arapahoemits.com/

It was really difficult for me to get an AWD in Texas, so I started calling, found a really great saleswoman in Kansas and finally got the EXACT car that I wanted. 2008 Diamond White Pearl - black leather interior, the works. I can fly for free, so I headed up to Kansas this last Friday, picked up my car around 10:30 am and started back to Texas right before lunch. It was snowing in Kansas - it gave me a good opportunity to drive the car on snow. The car was full of gas when I left - I filled up once in Oklahoma - got all the way home, only adding $30 of gas - almost 26 mpg. I just wanted to let everyone know that you might have to hunt to find the EXACT car that you want. I know for a fact, that in the Southern states, they only bring in 2WD - if you want the XLS with the three packages AND AWD - fat chance - there's only like four of those in the entire Southern US.

It's sad to think that this car is this utterly fantastic and people can't get what they want. I kind of feel sorry for Mitsubishi -

In the end, it was totally worth my extra day trip to go get the car. I now have the EXACT car I wanted and got to break it in in some snow, some rain and some sunny cold weather. Was the extra time and effort really worth it? Yes, this is one great car - you should find the one you want. The more people see this car, the more people are impressed. The more we each talk about the car, the more cars Mitsu will sell - in the end, this benefits the company AND us. Anyway...

just my four cents.

ciao

I'll have time to snap a few pics tomorrow (err...today...grin) - Mitsu did a GREAT job fixing the door panels, adding chrome door handles and even changing the sun visors - they aren't lit, but the mirrors have their own closures and the fabric covering is nicer. I don't really understand why so many people bash this interior. It's actually a really well designed space in which to drive - compared to all the other cars in the price range (and a few others that are more expensive), this car is great.

Here are some interior shots of the passenger side door panel. They did make some changes and I think the new textured top part now blends in perfectly with the dashboard. The new "leatherette" insert is nice on your elbow too! I hope these images aren't too large - i wanted you to be able to see the new texture and I'm still getting used to my new camera. Let me know if you want to see anything else...

sirnewt, Can you confirm that the mirrors on the 2008 XLS AWD are in heated. Also, do the mirrors have anything printed on them indicating that they are heated? I am also from Texas and have had trouble locating a Silver 08 AWD XLS W/ Nav, S&S, Lux pkg. I may also have to go out of state. Which dealer was it in Kansas you dealt with?

Thank you sirnewt! That is what I was wanting. Yes, I do agree, the new '08 door panels are nicer than the '07s. And the chrome door handles are a must!

The '07 does have a type of "leatherette" insert though. The '08s is different and has the extra one that goes verticle. Also the '07s visor mirrors do have covers, and I dont think there is anything wrong with the fabric? But yes, the outtie has caught some negative feedback with the quality of the interior. Like "cheap surfaces" for a 25k+ vehicle. But then these magazine reports say that the new Outlander is the "biggest bang for your buck". ??? always something they complain about.

Im not unhappy, I love it all. Now I just need to wait for a '08 to get totaled and show up at a local auto-yard :).

Acccording to my 2008 manual, the heated side mirrors only come on when you turn on the rear window defroster. I turned it on the other day and the mirrors did indeed get warmer. I believe that this feature is only available on 4WD models, however. Hope this helps.

I LOVE this car -

I have had mine for 10,000 miles and can say the same thing still.  It is just the right blend of all the things I was looking at the time that I bought it.
