Its probably b/c you have to pull the intake manifold to get to the plugs and wires in the back.

This was the first car that I have purchased from a dealership.  If I would of known about this I would have tried getting them to bring my price down.  My 2004 GTS  41,000 miles  was sold to me for around 15,500.  After tax and plus the warranty it came to about $17,000 out the door.  Was that a good deal?  This car has all the options installed on it.

Good question, I know that with the Jetta I believe the newer models only need a timing belt change every 120K They last twice as long because of the material

kevlar belts last longer however.  I still would not risk it.  Jettas are probally a non interfience motor so the T belt breaking wont cause huge damage.  In the Mitsus if that belt slips or breaks your paying over$3k to fix on a v6

Kevlar belts are better than OEM.  The OEM ones have been known to last that long however not a good idea.  Kevlar belts are stronger and will last longer.   I bought a Greddy kevlar bellt for my car.  cost $90 I think was worth it IMO

It may cost more for the belt but it saves you on labour if you only have to change it once every 120K. Assuming you pay to have it done like I do.

Talking about paying to do your own maintenance, which would you advise to get done professionaly for those that wrench themselves?
