Those are usually Vehicle specific kits.......... What kind did you get? Separate Type, or Direct type?

I've seen a pic of the ground wire system. It looked like spider webs mounted on the battery pole and spreads out. What is this system for anyway?

Basic ground wire systems are intended to give you better "grounding", no pun intended. The negative terminal of your battery is connected to the rest of the car via the metal frame of your car. Of course, there's the alternator also but your car's frame is still the major conductor. Do a search, this has definitely been discussed a bunch of times and explained in more detail.
