Okay.....I have a 1997 Eclipse GS-T and when I first heard the noise, I had no idea what it was. When I looked at the engine, I would rev it so that I would get some boost and when the car came back to an idle there was smoke coming from my turbo and out of the exhaust but the noise went away. So I bought a complete turbo gasket set and replaced all gaskets thinking I blew a gasket but when everything was put back together it was still smoking from the turbo and the exhaust. Now when I rev it up it makes a whining noise from the turbo and smokes like crazy. I don't know what else to do, thinking I need a new turbo.
