I bought new 2003 Montero for my wife and from the day one we are having a audio noise problem.

1) Occasional VERY loud noise like thunder/hitting a garbage can when audio is on. Regardless of sound level or cd/radio. It is not a ststic noise.

2) High frequency noise coming near audio area (not from speaker) following engine rpm.

3) Picking up all electric (ON) noise (brake, signals, lights etc). This started recently.

The biggest problem is (1) but Mitsubishi dealer cannot find anything wrong with audio.

I would like to know if other owners have similar experience. We are planning a long distance drive for this summer and this is really annoying.

I have a 2003 Montero Limited. I have no stereo problems. In fact, the stereo sounds INCREDIBLE. Do you have the XLS? The XLS has a different stereo.

Make the dealer fix it. It is under warranty.

I HAVE 2001 LIMITED, THE RADIO RECEPTION IS VERY POOR, A LOT TO STATIC. I AM NOT TOO HAPPY, IT IS WORSE THAN $99 AFTER MARKET I BOUGHT AT BEST BUY FOR MY 90 CAMRY. I BELEIVE THE LIMITED HAS THE "GLASS ANTENA" BUT STILL NOT THAT GREAT. I THINK INFINITY IS WELL KNOW FOR THERE SPEAKER AND AMPLYFY, BUT NOT RADIO
