Mike21 -> Oxygen sensors/Check engine light (1/21/2008 2:40:33 PM)

Since I’m in the process of doing stuff correctly I'll go ahead and ask about the oxygen sensors. I was doing some research on “how stuff works.com”, and learned, “When the oxygen sensor fails, the computer can no longer sense the air/fuel ratio, so it ends up guessing. Your car performs poorly and uses more fuel than it needs to”. Now with that being quoted from the site, I know I’ll generate a check engine light if I replace the catalyst converter for a test pipe. What route can I take without getting a check engine light?? I was thinking maybe a High flow catalyst converter might work but I don’t know for sure. So far for exhaust, I got a Borla 3” catback system. I was also planning on getting my stock exhaust manifold ported and polished. But I just don’t wanna deal with a CEL, I know there got to be ways around this.
