Well im having a problem with my transmission pan gasket. The gasket is leaking, BUT heres my problem.... One of the bolts that hold the pan on is stripped. It takes a 10mm but the socket just turns over it causing it to strip more. Would it hurt me any if i was just to take a chisel and cut that 1 bolt off? I have the new gasket and all other bolts come out fine. I dont know though, its already leaking (Very slowley) 1/4 quart every 100 miles. Should i just leave it alone? Or will it still leak with 1 bolt chisled off?

Why not just either get pliers or some channel locks and loosen it that way. Thats what id do. And do you mean the oil pan gasket?

No, its the transmission pan gasket. Pliers would just slip right off, havent tried channel locks though.... They might work

You want me to pull out my camera and take a picture of it for you?
Better yet, pull out your haynes manual and look up manual transaxle.
Car has oil pan and a transmission pan

somepeople call it the transmission pan, others the manual transaxle pan, either way same part

Im pretty sure only autos have a transmission pan. Ive never heard of a manual havign one. Even the link you provided it says right on it (A/T)

My car is an auto, haha i posted the wrong section of the haynes manual. But yea, inside the pan is also a filter. I got the filter and gasket for around $10. but i cant get the pan off

ooooo. ok this is making alot more sense now. I kept thinking your talking about a manual since you said manual twice in your last post

Ok yea id try some channel locks. Those are probably the easiest way to get a good grip on a stripped bolt

Hahah ok so channellocks it is then... Think i will go to advancedauto and just borrow theres instead of buying some only to use once.

if you cant get it off with channel locks, take a dremmel to the bolt and cut a slit in it big enough to fit a flathead screwdriver in
