You are right, there are not many on the road.  I live in a relatively rural area in North Eastern Ohio, but commute into a city of over 200,000 daily, as well as a city of over 500,000 weekly and I have only seen two on the road in the 8 months that I have owned mine.  I think Mitsubishi's poor buisiness position is scaring many people away from a great vehicle.  It alomost kept me from buying mine.

When it comes to exclusivity, I also have a 2003 20th anniversary VW GTI, and in 3 1/2 years of ownership, I have only seen 3 others on the road.  (there were only 4,000 made for USA)

The VW 337's are nice.  What color is yours?  I almost bought one when they announced them, but couldn't stand paying more than sticker for them (which is what they sold for in the MD/DC/VA area).

I think once the word spreads on the benefits and features of the Outlander they will be selling them like hotcakes.  Although, i'd prefer to have a "sleeper" car that flys under the radar and turns heads, than have to park next to 4 or 5 of them everytime i go to the store.  I see like 50 Rav-4's and CRV's everyday on my 20 mile round trip commute...how boring.

At the auto show I got to see the new Galant and slightly remodeled Endeavor up close which look really nice, not to mention the Lancer GTS and Evo which are really sharp compact cars.  If Mitsubishi keeps up the trendy marketing it should have an impact on their sales and longevity.  With Kia and Hyundai pushing hard to match the quality of Honda and Toyota, Mitsubishi has to make a move and with the redesigned Outlander and Lancer I think they've shown they are.

Around here it seems like they sell 1 Santa Fee for every Rav4, CRV, Suzuki, Outlander combined, Hyundai certainly has a hot seller.  I expect to start seeing more Outlanders, a very popular local Car buying book rated the Outlander #1 in it's class for 2008.
I was talking to a friend of mine who is shopping for a car and he will probably get a CRV, he looked at the Outlander, but only because I had one, he just doesn't trust the brand. They have only been on Canada for 5 years under the Mitsubishi brand.  We have had Mistubishies with Chrysler branding for a while, but that not a very positive agument these days.

Back in high school my parents had a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant AWD Turbo that was really nice and had no problems for the 4 yrs they owned it.  17 yrs later i could only expect reliabilty would be better not worse.  With Mistubishi being a big brand overseas and with Japan manufacturing them i don't think reliability is going to be an issue.

Did you let your friend drive your Outtie?  That should of changed his mind right then and there.  Sure it has a different feel than the Honda, but the OUTstanding power, style, versatility and technology of the Outtie can't be argued.

I'm confused by your Chrysler comment?  Were Mitsu's sold under Chrylser manufacturer before?  I thought GM was the major manufacturer they were aligned with in the US.

Eagle was part of Chrysler. The Laser was a Mitsu 3000GT, and I think the Talon was pretty much a Mitsu Eclipse.
