because i dont want a DSM because of the reliablilty factor, i know there are a couple good ones out there, but i babied this car so much and treated it better than i treat myself lol... and i still had nothing but problems out of it.. i just dont want a DSM motor

dude dsm's can be very reliable cars. you just gotta make sure you treat them good and keep up with maintanance. the reason people get the bad impression from them is because they take them out and start beating the sh!t out of them and dont keep up with oil changes etc. as long as you treat your car nice (like you want it to last you) and keep up with the maintanance, it will last you a long time. its been around for 15 years now, what says it cant go another?

I had a 92 non turbo (4g63) dsm and it was a very reliable car,  I went threw a couple of clutches and tranies but that was my fault lol.  It made it to 198k before the timing belt jumped.

Nick, swap in the 4g63 engine its more reliable then the 1.8.

What problem could you have had...i bet non of them had to do with the actual engine itself but all the other parts. What do you want for a car that is over 15 years old?

I was thinking the same thing.   The only thing you can blame the motor on is crankwalk that is about it
