your amp is 400w rms bridged. It will work. Obviously that's not a great sub, or even good - nor is the amp for that matter, but in a well designed and built enclosure I'm sure it will make some noise until you realize how weak it is and you can save up for something that's decent quality. You don't need an alt or a battery upgrade, and you definitely don't need to waste $100 on a capacitor.

Sorry this is an old thread, but I just joined. It will work, but won't be the best sound. Like said before, save up a little and get a better setup and you will like it more. I just bought my 97 eclipse and put in 3 JL Audio 8W6's in a sealed box with a Rockford Punch 200 pushing them with a generic crossover. I don't like the crossover too much, but it will do till I get a better one. Make sure that you don't go too small on your power wire also. Bigger amps like more power. I didn't look at all the specs of the amp, but you should go at least 10 awg if not 4 awg on the power IMO. The only other thing is to mke sure that you have a good battery. Not saying to go out and buy another, just that your battery that you have is in good shape to push out the power.

u can run it no problem... bridge it too, cuz with your specified sub, it has a 4 ohm impendance, which means if you have a 1000 watt amp, bridged, u get 1000 wats PEAK POWER to a sub with 1ohm... now, since u have 4 ohms, its cut in half every 2 ohms... so 1000 watts, devided by 2 = 500 watts peak devide by 2 again and u have 250 watts peak to a sub with 4 ohm, now rms is about 75% of peak power so ud get about 200-220 watts to your sub for rms... yeah, so try to get a 2 ohm subwoofer, 18 inches does not mean better quality, in fact its allot more sloppy than a 12" id suggest a 12" alpine type R with a 2 ohm impendance, then u would get about 450 - 480 watts rms to it, which is good bass, and type R's are very good quality with a relitivly small price tag... and dont worry about ur battery, u dont even need a capacitor, u dont need that untill ur running over 4000 watts, which is huge and not practical im running 2 12" MTX 5500 subs in a custom box, off a 2400 watt 2x channel, its great i love it, but next im getting type R's
