3G is the 3rd Gen Eclipse 2000-2005
4g64 is the 2.4L engine used in 2G Spyders and in all 4Cyl 3rd gen Eclipses. (RS/GS)
420a is the N/A (economy) motor used in 2G Eclipses of the non spyder variety. (RS/GS)

aha i see

so a G3 GS would have the 4g64 engine? As i understand the 4g64 is more reliable than the 420a but the 420a is better at fuel economy?

Ok other question is how many mpg does the GS get? And does it use the 89 octane gas?

And still the question remains. If i get a 80k - 120k Eclipse would there be a point. I understand the GS is more reliable then the other models but how is it compared to other cars? Say a honda can run 200,000 no problem, toyota can run 200,000 no problem, etc So what can you say about the eclipse. Is it just like any other car or is it really actually known for being problematic?

oh yea and what about RS? what is the difference between RS and GS?

if you find a car thats been taken care of, and continue to take care of it, it can last a long time. as for fuel economy, i have an rs (same engine) and get 30mpg highway with it, and it uses 87 octane (you can put higher in if you want, but its basically just a waste of money. there are only minor differences between the rs and gs. the rs is the bottom of the line model and doesnt come with hardly anything. the gs comes with cruise control, optional sun roof, different rims, powered mirrors, etc.

thats horrible my AWD quattro audi did around 20. Yea thats a really heavy car and its all wheel drive. How could a 6 cylander FWD eclipse get so low of gas mileage? Maybe you have old oil or not enough pressure in ur tires?

I am going for an oil change and putting in synthetic like someone here suggested. Sad part is I have the 4 banger GS because I was going for reliability and economy.

Oh yea bought platinum plugs and new wires for it as well as air filter.

Hope I get better milage now .... oh and tire pressure, I checked that and they are good
