I herd the end of summer?? ... All I have to say is the 4G63 motor has been in these Mitsubishis for 15 years. I think that alone says something. the 4G63 has to have something done right to still be going into cars(the top rally cars in the world at that). Subaru has changed from there 2.0 turbo WRX motor to a 2.5 turbo motor the 2.5 offers a bit more TQ but it runs even more hot than a normal inline motor and the Pistons are very weak in the STis

If anything the MR EVO 9 will be the one to get the car is said to be looking at very low 13 second 1\4 mile times I mean the 2005 EVO RS is at 13.1 stock the 05 MR is at 13.3 and the VIII is at 13.4 all fast cars and the EVO 9 will be about 10 more HP

Or like ME. I have an 03 VIII it runs 14.0 stock reason why is because the pre2005 models boost spike at 19PSI and settle in at 16 PSI where it is held to redline, the 2005 models run 20.5 PSI and I have read that the 03 model with a boost controller set to hold the same boost(20PSI) has dynod around 40-60 more WHP(not sure if its in fact that much I have read it only no dyno sheets or VIDs to prove it at least I havent seen them)

If the EVO 9 has VVT it will be a much better driving car. While VVT will increase the HP a bit the main benefit is that you will get high torque over a much wider rpm range. It increases drivability dramatically.

Offcourse! whats this bs with 'IX is the same as VIII" thing?!
+ you have got perfect recaros, the VVT MIVEC motor with the quite huge torque improvement, the diffusor, better air intake etc...

Ya but with a lot more unreliability. The fastest EVO VIII on evom.net runs a 9.77 in the 1/4 mile and there are a least 3-4 others in the high 9s the 10s forget about it there ar a ton of evos there. The fastest STi I have ever even heard of ran a 10.2

Go EVO all the way!!

Why aren't you a fan of better gas mileage and more power when you need it>?

Yes but the EVO is alot stronger. the STi requires you to finish a 1/4 in 5th(i think its 5th away) the EVO with a reflash always the car to very easily finish it in 4th . a reflash will bump the revlimiter up to 7800RPMs from 7400RPMs(REDLINE at 7000) and alot of guys actually run them up that high with very few mods.

what do you mean the STi is more sophisticated it has basic limited slip differentials while the Evo has differentials run by computers. Also for the Which to get I would say get the Evo because the engine is stronger and more refined. The Evo cant beat the Sti on the quarter mile but in the corners the Evo would whoop the STi because the STi has extreme understeer while the Evo has little to none, although you wouldnt care about that. So the Evo has more tuning potential for less money because the 4G63T(EVO) can withstand more boost with stock internals(Heard of one running 29psi), but the EJ25 starts with 500cc more displacement but pretty weak block. The choice is basically up to you, which one do you see yourself in?
