Heated Mirrors

rsk135 -> Heated Mirrors (2/3/2008 11:52:28 AM)

I purchased a 2007 XLS thinking that it would have heated mirrors.  I guess not.
So after reading all the posts here I did a little leg work myself.

Turns out burco inc makes mirror glass replacements for the Outlander, heated and non-heated
http://www.burcoinc.com/RedicutsCatalog.aspx

There is a list of retailers on the site.  I plan to call a few next week to see if I can get the heated glass.
I'll keep you posted.  Hopefully this will be an inexpensive upgrade.

Hopefully my LS and your XLS have the harness pre-installed for the heated mirror!  Good luck with your research!

I contacted Safelite Auto Glass and spoke with a customer service rep.  They are ordering the Redi-Cut heated mirrors for me.  Its $39.95 each side.  They will call when they come in.  I guess I better make sure I have the element leads in my mirror before I pay for them.

I'll keep you posted.

BTW, removing the mirror is a 2 minutes job, and all you need ti a flat-tip screwdriver.

1.Slant the mirror upward with your hands. Then insert a flat-tipped screwdriver wrapped with protective tape between the pivot plate and mirror through the cut-out from behind the mirror. Now pry off the mirror tab and release the lower side of the mirror as shown in the illustration.
2.Release the upper side of the mirror from the tab as shown while pulling out the mirror.
3.Disconnect the connectors of the heated mirror.

"Minus Screwdriver" LOL.. I didn't know that was an official term ...I haven't heard it called that since my dad was explaining the difference between a standard and a Phillips screwdriver to my sister

When you get the heaters in, and take out your mirror take some pictures of what harness is or isnt in there.

rsk135 -> RE: Heated Mirrors (2/8/2008 5:19:18 AM)

Safelite can't get the mirrors.  I called some other retailers and the cheapest price is $70 per side.  You can get them at the dealer for roughly the same price but my dealer had no clue if the harness was there or not.  I may get out my "minus" screwdriver this weekend and see.  If the harness is there I'll post pics.

At this point $150 is a little too much.
