So when getting to go get gas, 87 is used the most on my outtie when i fill up.

What happens if you go to the middle octane or the highest octane?

Better performance and cleans the engine, fuel cleaner?

You don't need it. Higher Octane does not mean cleaner or more performance. Use what is rated for your vehicle. If you need evidence just GOOGLE "Octane Myths"

The octane rating basically tells you the fuel requires a higher temperature for optimal combustion, or in other words the fuel's ability to resist ignition/detonation.

This doesn't have anything to do with fuel economy or performance since you're engine is already designed to function optimally at a certain level of combustion. So in my opinion you're only wasting your money on higher octane fuel. It may not knock as much since there's less combustion, but you won't see any better performance.

Cuffy,

also, using higher octane fuel when not recommended means there will be excess fuel after detonation, leaving traces of unused fuel, that over time builds up. Just use whats recommended...

Use reg gas. Its a small 3.0L 6 cylinder suv. Higher octane is needed when you have a turbo car or something thats fast (eclipse gsx 95 to 99, eclipse RS 00 to 05) Just an example.
