Someone once told me you can't bolt on intake or exhaust to a evo8 without getting it tuned. Is this true?

Umm i haven't heard much on that , but ya if u put and intake or an exhaust on a tune is going really bring out the performance those mods provide. On the stock ecu setup i believe i heard the more mods u do the richer the car starts to run and also from what i've heard the evo 8 runs extremely rich from the factor like 10.0 afr or richer in some cars.

No thats stupid. Having it tuned will give you more power... but its pointless with just an intake.

That's bull, getting it tuned after intake exhaust is just pointless, and there's no reason to. On the evo X its a different story from what I've heard

You guys,   Yes tuning is important.   you can add exhaust and intake without but your car will hit fuel cut and wont be fun to drive because of the hickup under boost.   Plus the tune will help really pull the power from the new mods.

would exhaust and intake mods alone really make u hit fuel cut? so r u saying that tunning for only intake and exhaust mods would not only improve performance but it will allow for your car to run healthier?

exactly.   Plus youll save gas more too.  since stock they only get like 200-220miles to a tank.  after a flash they will get like 260-300 to a tank

If you have a stock Evo and you purchase just an intake and exhaust you shouldn't have any problems.  For around a year my brother and I, on both our Evo's, had an injen intake and full exhaust with a test pipe and had no problems.
