Hello all,

I am looking forward to upgrade my audio system in my 02 Eclipse Spyder GS because apparently, I'm hearing static noises when I turn it up and the bass is weak also.  What would you do first in order to get better sound quality?

1.  Buy a new cd player and use stock speakers
2.  Buy new front and back speakers and use stock cd player
3.  Buy subwoofers and an amplifier using both stock speakers and cd players.

PS I've been trying to figure out the best way to have better sound quality but not sure which I should do first.  What would you guys do?

Here's a list for great success:
-New head unit.
-While you're in there, run new speaker wires for the front and rear speakers.
-Components for up front
-Coaxials out back
-4 channel amp to power you speakers
With the proper setting, that set-up will be fricking loud, but there won't be any bass.
If bass is your thing, throw a 10 in teh trunk and run it off your 4 channel, or run a couple 12's with a big amp.

hm...first of all why do I just need to wire new speaker wires and not buy new speakers itself.  Second of all, how much do you think the whole setup like you said cost minus the subwoofer option?  Thanks for replying.

You must be confused.
These are coaxials: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPS-17C2

and these are components: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPR-13S

Powering those with a good amp and you'll be impressed. The clarity will be insane. I was running alpine type-s components in teh front and 6-1/2 coaxials in the back of my old eclipse powered with an alpine 4 channel amp and a good deck, i couldn't turn it all teh way up or else i'd have hearing damage. It's all about preference, and i just love clarity.

New speaker wire is required because the 3g Eclipse has a factory equipped amplifier that you need to bypass. Actually, all you have to do is run new wire from the back of the new head unit to the output side of factory amp. Unless you're planning on going with the 4ch amp, in which case there's a little more involved.
