Some gas stations have prem at 93oct.

I just fill up the thank with Plus 91 Oct, the manual said any gas just it has to be 90 or higher

great, just to come from a 95 oct with the Evo..
here are just like 10 cents the difference from one to another

I had TSX prior to Outlander and it explicitelly stated "Premium only" in the dashboard and near gas tank.

I didn't look in the Outlander's manual, but I read before and heard from a dealer that it runs on a regular. If your manual says using 90 or higher that basically means Premium gas which I don't think is true...

I just bought a 2008 XLS and the manual states 87 or higher, so regular is just fine... any other grade is just a waste of money.

I think it's more important to pic a brand name gas (one that does more than the minimum detergent standard) and that gets alot of traffic (fresh gas)

What brand do you use? last few times i used Gulf and Lukoil. i might start to use Shell sinces its at least in the list

I've always used shell, forgot why I started using it, I probably read somewere it was one of the few companies that used good qualitty additives. I'm kind of happy it was in that list, I knew shell was agood company since I've had 2 cars both make it past 150,000 miles on shell, but this is conqrete evidence I guess.

There aren't that many suppliers, maybe 3-4 in a given area, even the no-name gas station get there gas from a major supplier, I've never heard of a no-name refinery. Certainly the argument of using a high traffic gas station is a good idea. If for what ever reason the gas is being contaminated, at least the contamination is diluted and you get less of it per tank.
As far as additives, Shell had to change or remove their additive a few years ago, after realizing that it cause some major issue with some fuel injection system. I would rather not have any additives at all since MMC says to not use any and if it does cause problem, you 'ed be stuck paying for the bill or suing the gas company (this is what happened in the case of Shell).

In short:

Regular is the "minimum" recommended octane for the outlander.

You can use higher grades with no detrimental effects, and possibly no beneficial effects either.
