so i was getting my turbo set up list ready for a when i start buying the parts really soon and came across a question i couldnt really find an answer for. so i know i want to get a evo3 for my gst but wasnt sure if it should have a internal or external wastegate. its going to be a daily driver but also a part-time track car every now and then for fun. and if i do go external, is it better to have to wastegate on the o2 housing or the header?

well an external would be better in any situation because it eliminate's boost creep... you could get away without one with the evo3 but if you have the money i'd say why not, right? as far as where you mount i would probably say on the header, even though i'm not sure if it makes a difference...

external is definetly better. If you have the money then i would do it. But obiously its alot more money because you need to buy the wastegate, and manifold that can mount the wastegate up to and then the dump tube either to the atmosphere or welded back into the exhaust. And you have to have the wastegate on the manifold. Because it has to be able to dump the air prior to reaching the turbine

What kind of boost will you usaually be running? I just installed an E3 2 months ago, I upgraded to 34mm wastegate and ported the turbo and it runs great, I am on stock fuel so I am at 15psi, I have 0 boost creep, if you are going to run over 20 all the time it doesn't matter but the stock wastegate is fine.
