Go to vfaq.com, it'll explain everything!  To sum it up its just the # of bolts on the flywheel.

Rob -> RE: what is.... (3/5/2008 1:15:53 PM)

A 7 bolt motor is teh motor found in the 1992.5-1999 dsm's. The 6 bolt can be found in years 1990-1992.5 dsm's. The 7 bolt has been known to crankwalk more than any other engine known to man. The 6 bolt is the least likely to crankwalk of all engines therefore it is a prime engine to swap into a dsm originaly eguiped with a 7 bolt.

Where talking 4g63 engines so it doesn't pertain to you.

Go to google and search dsm, i'm not going to explain it for you.

hiflyen -> RE: what is.... (3/11/2008 9:01:23 AM)

I have a GS and I get alot of crap about it beacuse it's not the turbo motor like most of the tunners on here. The rs and gs motors are the same. the 420A motor has eight bolts the hold the flywheel on not 6 or 7 like the 4g63 likt the turbo guys. hope this helps.
