I have a 2000 Montero Sport. Lights got left on...battery dead. Jump started and now it won't idle, but starts right up when I turn the key. I have to keep my foot on the gas at about 1100 rpms. Any help would be greatly apperciated.

Thanks, David.

How are the connections on the battery. Did you do anything else besides letting the battery die

Connections are good. Nothing else done. Update; I let the car sit for a couple of hours and then I got to idle, and let it idle for appox. 15min. everything seems find now. Could this be a computer issue? Having to reset it self or such?

David.

Since the battery went dead, the ecu pretty much had to relearn all of its settings, fuel, ign, timing ect....

No problem, what caused the battery to die?

if it continues to do it in the morning it could be something with the cold start FIAV. But we'll see. I think dsm could be correct on the reset thing

that isnt always the case when a battery dies. Ive had my battery on my mr2 die on me twice now and i have never had any idle issues. The fact that the problem went away probably points toward the ecu just resetting. But if they problems werent going away or persist for some reason you have to look else were for solutions
