Does anyone know if it's difficult to remove the alternator on this make and model. If so, is there a link for "Do It Yourself"

Please help!!!

No, it's not hard.  I did it on my '95 a couple times, and the belt driven accessories on my '99 are laid out about identically - assuming you don't have the 4 cyl it should be very similar.

DISCONNECT THE (-) BATTERY CABLE AT THE BATTERY.
Next loosen (not remove) the bolt in the center of the alternator belt tensioner pulley, then crawl under the truck and find the tensioner adjustment bolt and back the tensioner off the alternator belt enough to remove the belt.

Then you'll have a couple wires to disconnect at the alternator.  I'm thinking one large gauge wire with a 8-10mm nut, and a plastic male-type connector with two or three smaller wires.

After that there should just be a couple bolts holding it in place, one short, one long.

i've got a '97 monty sport with a 3.0L should be about the same. you can save yourself a lot of effort by taking off the passenger side whell to fully expose the alternator and connections. you just have to take off the rubber covers in the wheel well.
