hiflyen -> freshly rebuilt now it wont start (3/7/2008 6:09:26 PM)

ok here's the deal. I have a '95 GS and I just rebuilt the motor. It won't start though. It had a code for the throtle possion sensor so I got a new one and put it in. That was the only code that I had. I made sure that the timing was right before I dropped the motor back in. I have fuel and spark. Any suggestions on what could be keeping the motor from coming alive?

does it crank over??

Well if you have fuel and spark the last thing you need is compression.  Do u have any?

hiflyen -> RE: freshly rebuilt now it wont start (3/7/2008 6:22:37 PM)

yes it cranks over just fine and it seems to have compesion.

Did u use a compression tester?

I'll have to get a compresion gauge

If you have a TPS code then make sure that is is timed correctly. And by that i means you can rotate it a bit before you tighten it. It has to be in the middle or at least near it. Then also make sure your cam position sensor is plugged in and functional. What exactly did you rebuild?

jgbrules -> RE: freshly rebuilt now it wont start (3/8/2008 10:49:18 PM)

hello! check those timming marks. if you have fuel and spark it should at least try to crank. even if the compression wasnt very high, as long as it has some compression it should try to crank!  check those marks, as little as 2 teeth off can make it not crank. keep us posted!  greg....

K I'll go back and double check my timing marks. thanks

k I checked all of my timing and compresion tested it also #1 120 #2 10 #3 120 #4 60 lbs so i'm going back and doing the rings and a valves what should the compresion be i can't find the values.
