Went Friday and the track was too cold to connect but the Luv was still getting some slow runs in to keep breaking in the motor.  I stayed home to work on the house Saturday and Bob finally got a full run in at 9.63 in the quarter but the motor at first seemed to go bad at the end of the track.  Long story short... the adjustable ring on the distributor came loose and the rotor pushed up into the cap and crapped out the motor with no oil pressure since the distributor came off the oil pump rod.  Motor seems to be ok and it was also noticed that the carb was only getting about 3/4 throttle.  So, not bad for the first time out at what was thought to be full throttle on the naturally aspirated (but race gas now) truck.   Last best on pump gas was 9.82 with the old cam and old compression.

Thats insane.   Should post up some low 9s.  What were the 60fts and trap speeds?

He told me what the 60' was and I think it was about 1.37 and trapped at 138mph with a little spinning off the line.  Still running Mickey Streets and not full slicks and that is probably hurting the time a little bit but I would nearly kill for a 60' like that.  We haven't even started adjusting the ladder bars yet.  I took some video on Friday but it would not stick and he was not peddling it all the way.  He is going to put a throttle block and let his daughter drive it at the High School Drags if she gets the hang of it but he will be trying to slow it down with a throttle stop to a 12 second ride, that may be tough.    But after that, I should have some tape in about 2 months from now.  I've never put any tape on the net before and when I get a good shot I'll have someone walk me through it.

I can walk you threw it.  Or you can always Email the Vids to me and i can just put them up.  Either way.

But 1.3X 60ft the car was still going pretty damn good off the line.

So ladies and gentleman think twice before the next time you say AWD owns from a stop.  as I have been saying all along RWD with good tires and suspension will own AWD

hense why buschur sells their RWD conversion kit, and why the fastest 4g63 in the world is RWD

...but you both are missing the keyword here....track.
Note that I'm not at all saying RWD sucks, but on the street, with that much power, it will suck.

yea and think about the evo's out there that buschur have with slicks on all four wheels... if you put a rwd car with slick and awd with the same tires together, i'd almost garauntee the awd would at least beat it off the line...
