EVO4L -> transmission (4/12/2008 3:29:41 PM)

Hey so i posted about my 4th and 5th grinding and i was told it was my syncros. I was also told that i could try and change my tanny oil and put in the ams tranny fluid or other specialty fluid in so i am going to go ahead and try that. However i dont know where to check the fluid level(if there even is one) and where to drain and put oil back in. could some one send me so pics or help me out? thanks

there is no level check.  the drain and filler are 2 different bolts they are big like a 22mm or something.  I would recommend useing the BG syncroshift II fluid in the tranny.  All it takes is 3 bottles so buy 3 bottles and put it all in and your good.

ok thanks so is there a certain amount to put in or just dump all three bottles in?

EMonz57 -> RE: transmission (4/12/2008 4:15:26 PM)

all three bottles is actually just slightly more than enough.  the tranny takes like 2.96 qts and 3 bottles is 3 qt

isnt the actual filler bolt the indicator. So right when it starts comming our from the filler, thats the fill line

yea exactly so there is no filler.  when its full it is full..  no more goes in DUH lol

hey so is the filler bolt located right underneath the battery? i was looking around and thats all that looked like it was it. thanks

I cant remember I think you get to it from under the car

changing your trans fluid will not alleviate already worn synchronizers.  the fluid is suppost to be changed as a maintenece item to prevent premature wear.
