Hello all, I have a couple of questions hopefully someone can help. I have a 2001 Montero full size, 100,000 miles. I finished the timing belt/water pump, pulley etc a couple of months ago, and all went well. I am now planning to do the spark plugs which as you know requires plenum removal. This model appears to be a 2 piece plenum. I figured as long as I am doing the plugs I may as well take care of the lash adjuster tick. The question I have is on this motor, can I simply loosen the rocker shaft bolts and slide the rocker arms out of the way to remove the adjusters? From what I can tell the rocker arms mount on the rocker arm shaft and the shaft is held in place with 8 bolts. Once I replaced all the lash adjusters would it be as simple as replacing the rocker arms on the lash adjuster/valve spring and torquing down the rocker are shaft OR do I have to get the valve lash removal tool and compress the intake valve to slide the rocker off the adjuster? The first option seems fairly simple and straight forward Also, has anyone had any experience with ITM lash adjusters or any other after market manufacturer ie Melling, Beck Ansley? The OEM is expensive but if the aftermarket is no good I hate to do this job twice!! Just want to get an idea before I started on the teardown. My wife uses the Montero for work so I need to get it running fairly quickly Thanks Jack
