Does anyone of you experience scratches in your front window tints?

This happens to generally all outlanders here in the philippines, regardless of what tint brand is used (even 3M).

the local dealer said the weather strip is too tight in the outlander and japan is working on the problem or hasnt replied to them.

this has been the status for months.

for members from other countries, don't you put tints normally?

our dealer said that japan does not put in tints because its cold there. this is a lame excuse IMHO.

please help!

I too have had the front window tint problem you've mentioned.  One of the salesman, where we bought the car, told me that every outlander they've put tint in has had the same problem.  So you're not alone.

An expensive solution would be to order factory made front privacy glass windows and install them. I'm not even sure if they can supply. All outlanders sold in North America (or at least most of what I've seen around) have rear privacy windows. This thing doesn't get scratched easy, however, breaks nicely with something strong and metall inserted on the side with pressure. I'm going through the replacement odyssey on mine. It's gonna take weeks and about 300$ just for the glass - nothing in stock for mitsu here... Keep options open. Good luck

......remove the door panel.

then either trim or remove the inner plastic/rubber scrapper.

it is just too tight of a fit against the inner window surface.

When I had my window tint installed to cut down on the UV rays, the tint installer said that most of the new cars had those hard plastic scrapers...Including Mercedes. They said that dirt or debris could get trapped between the scraper and the window, causing scratches on the tint.
The tinting company's solution was to install a strip of felt between the tinted window and the plastic scraper. Although on one of the windows, the felt has shifted a little, so far no scratches in a year.
Another trick a friend taught me was to wipe the tint side with plastic polish.

felt usually $20 more, at least in my area

I tinted front windows for $100 and they are scratched all over after a few months. I regret not telling the installer get a felt.

SUV tinting is more expensive, you can try arguing with them that Outlander is a CUV and not SUV, but you do want to get the job done right? Besides what you pay is what you get. I could find plenty of shady places that would tint for $150, but I would rather have it done at a place that I trust.
