I have a slight problem with the air condition in my 99 Mitsubishi carisma.

When I turn my air condition on, I expect to freeze to death..... The air is not cold.....Its just breezy, and that doesnt do the job.

I refilled the air condition unit with gas, and tried it, but it didnt work.

The other day I was with a friend of mine, and he was doing the air condition in his Honda Civic. He attempted to replace some sort of filters for the air condition which he got from someplace behind the glove compartment.

I was wondering if my mitsubishi would have anything of that sort? And if it did, how can I take them out.

Note: My friend did not remove not one screw from the car when he removed the filters. I am trying to say that I do not want to remove the dashboard or anything of that sort!

thanks

The air condition compressor clutch, does it engage and disengage a lot.  W/ the a/c on it should stay on, but if its low it'll cycle on and off.

As a matter of fact, yes it does.

When I went to refill it, we were trying the air condition, and the guy kept telling me every minute: "See, now its off...... and now its on".

It does turn on and off regularly, maybe more than necessary. How can I tune it up? or what should I do?

Since it goes on and off a lot that means your low on charge.  Charge it untill it stays on and check the a/c system for leaks.

I am sorry, but I am not good with parts in the car. If you tell me exactly what to do, I will do it.

So if you don't mind, please elaborate more........ thanks, but I need to understand!!

Tell m what to charge, and how! And what am I supposed to be looking for when it leaks, fluid?

Since the a/c clutch cycles fast (on/off) it means it low on charge and since its low its leaking go somewhere.  Recharge your a/c system w/ freeze 12 (or "gas") and just inspect the lines and fittings for any moisture.  You probably won't see anything if its a slow leak.  If you still have a hard time just get a shop to do it for you, it shouldn't cost a lot.

I remember a while back I had gone to this guy, and he said he would do it for me.............

He asked for $150 in order to complete the job, but that was like a year ago.

Situation, economically I mean, is very bad over here, so I guess I could pressure him for cheaper!

thank you for your time
