switch ignition project

3000gt16 -> switch ignition project (4/22/2008 7:48:07 AM)

I recently looked at a used (apparently stolen) BMW. The point I really liked in this car was the ignition system, which consisted of two switches and a button. the place of the normal position was stuffed with a du rag [8|] but I've been thinking about this ignition system. I went to advance and talked to someone there about it, and according to them, theres one wire for each of the 3 key positions: Accessory, On, and Ignition. The three positions I understand, Ignition you touch and it pulls back, as the button would do. So my question is, does anyone have any other possible thoughts on this? Has anyone ever even seen this?

I know, I know, having that makes it sooo much easier to steal... but only if the person can find it. [:)]

thats a common practice actually over here... they cut the ignition wire with a switch... and it wont even go into acc without it, it is possible, you just need diagrams

Hmm, one switch for the whole mod? I figured with the 3 wires, one for acc, one for on, and one for ign, I could just  take the ignition out, tap into the wire and run the wire elsewhere, like the acc and on wires each go to their own switch near the shifter, and the ign wire going to a button elsewhere. I wouldnt want the button in a noticable spot, just in case someone understands the relevence of the setup. Maybe hide the ign button? [:D] Watch someone sit for an hour tryin to boost my car! Not so funny? Okay seriously tho, is the ignition wiring easy to figure out or would someone have a diagram? I dont wanna rip apart vmy dash and find out I gotta spend another 6 hours figuring out the wiring.
