I finally took some images.  It is hard to tell unless you get the sun right in the photo. You can see it is in the same place as the rest. In addition I show a profile photo that shows how misaligned the hood is compared to the fender. As most of you who have this issue know, it looks much worse in person.
Has anyone had any luck with the dealership so far?

I used to spray parts for the Lotus car company in Norfolk UK.  I would say this to me looks like the skin and underframe were not stamped properly and should have been rejected in the factory before being fitted.

Paint used on jap cars is very brittle and a mark/dent like that would have paint damage if done after the car was painted.  Becareful in having a paint less fix dent repair unless the dealer agrees first that if the paint does split that they will replace the bonnet.  Filling sanding and re-spraying on an already damaged bonnet/hood is a no no on a car less then 6 months old.

You could have an independent inspection done to see if the damged bonnet has been repaired by testing the paint thickness or checks to see if filler has be used by the factory

why do dealers say we dont know of any problems in our range when in fact they do but keep quiet  I have a on going problem with Mitsubshi UK with the dim radio display even though I have told them Mitsubishi sweden have a fix

Well now I know I''m not crazy. I noticed small dents only on the driver side hood, near the crease. I would post pics but my 2007 Lab Cab is a bit dirty (damned birds too). I will check with the dealer about the issue when I see them next week. (My rear wiper fluid jets don''t work- but that another forum)

Do you think the hood ripples are related to the openning and closing of the hood?
The hood seems kind of heavy and the hood rod prop-open point is only to one side, near the driver''s side of the hood.
I''ve seen larger Import car hoods that have the prop-up point near the front and closer to the middle instead of on the driver''s side like the Outlander.  This seems to be a more balanced location to hold the hood open.
I wonder if this is too much stress on the driver''s side hinge mounting area thus causing the ripples.
It seems like my ripples didn''t appear until I started to open the hood for maintenance and oil changes.

I have a dent in the same place on my 2007 LS too...I agree that it is be caused by the hood being propped in that location when open.  I tried to take some pics, but cannot get the ding to show.  It is not a big dent, but noticable when in right light and angle.

I wonder if it''s because the hinge on that side of the hood doesn''t have enough travel, i.e. when the hood is closed the hinge is pushed beyond its travel and is constantly applying pressure to lift the hood?
