is it necessary to have a custom wiring made for my conversion,
if i plan on sticking with stock intake and exhaust.
i will modify it once i have enjoyed the pleasure of completing the challenge that lies ahead.

just a refresher...
Evolution IX Mivec 4G63, stock everything for now.
Going into a 1998 Mirage DE Coupe.

So if i plan to run the engine unmodified for say the start to whenever i itch for more grunt...
can i run with the stock ecu???
and if so can i use the stock ignition??

Ive done as much research as i could, and yielded no results...
Please help.
:]

Well my whole inspiration started when i was down in LA and met a guy who actually did the swap.
he just welded the transfer case and kept it front wheel drive...but he got the engine in nicely into a coupe mirage.
also, to answer your question i currently have the slugish 1.5 4G15

No, you'll have to replace everything. Stock ECU on the mirage would pretty much flip out and try to but a bullet in it's hypothetical little head trying to run that motor. You'll need the Evo ECU and harness, and I'm almost certain it's not a plug and play, so be prepared for some extensive wiring. Also, you'll need to replace the fuel system, as our mirages come with puny little fuel pumps. If you don't replace it, you'll be running so lean that your motor, in all probablility, will die. Basically, if you can replace it with something from the Evo, do it.

Edit:
Since I've got a few minutes, I'll go into a few other details that you'll probably run into. A bonus to having the Evo ECU in your car will be that it's flashable, unlike our computers. That means advanced timing and fuel maps and more power with no mechanical modifications what so ever. Motor mounts are not going to line up perfectly, so there will be some modification and fabrication required to get it to sit in there right. And if you keep it FWD, get some really sticky tires, because a car as light as your coupe is going to have trouble keeping traction. Think SRT4 on roids. The other big thing you're going to run into is with the intercooler. Basically, the stock evo FMIC will not work with the bumper reinforment still attatched to the car. So you can either cut out a portion of support or remove it all together if you want to go with the Evo FMIC, or go find something no more than 8-10" tall that will still flow the pressure correctly.
