Sure, we're OK - at least from my perspective.

Tell me more at this ignition amp you're recommending, wicked_outlander. I know that pretty much the entire ignition system is containted in the distributor - including the coil.

Do you have any links to pages detailing how to "heat up" or "hop up" the ignition system?

Especially any home-brewed mods - rather than expensive aftermarket systems.

Thanks in advance.

Well, wicked_outlander, sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been busy and had to find some time to do some researching your suggestion on the 'net.

I have to say, Pann may be a good place to get mods done, but thier website leaves a LOT to be desired! I don't think your suggestion about the d.i.s. upgrade will work for me anyway. My 92 Expo 4G93 doesn't have a distributorless ignition system. It has a fairly conventional distributor. What it doesn't have is an external coil. It is integrated into the distributor. Not quite sure what the descriptive term is for this type of system, but that's what I'm dealing with. The only way I can see an MSD d.i.s. working on my rig is if it is designed to REPLACE a standard distributor-type ignition system completely.

There was one thing I forgot to mention in our discussion about the benefits of the filter PC. You said
"The calculations you did to try and prove your point are simple math calculations based on the volume of the cylinders and the rpm. This would assume 100% volumetric efficiency for an engine, I know that you know that is not possible."

What I forgot to point out is that although my simple example was based on 3000 RPMs, the rev limiter on my little 4G93 is nearly twice that. So, even if the volumetric efficiency were only 60% (and we both know it is significantly higher than that) at WOT and say 5000 RPMs it would need to move more than 100 CFM of air through that little 3" tube. So although my example was rather simplistic, it isn't unrealistic. In fact it is pretty conservative for WOT at redline RPMs......
