I have the XLS with the lux/sound package but no nav. I regret that I didn't get the nav. Is it possible to have the dealer take out the regualer 6 cd changer and install the nav? Where can I get the OEM nav for cheap?

yes, a dealer can install the nav package. however, its not cheap. I believe the nav unit alone is around 1800 bucks.

Got it as a package, and haggled the car to a price which was a steal during Nov 06. The software is erratic in areas like downtown chicago, where the GPS will locate me one block off where I actually was. I'm not sure if this is because of the GPS software or the inherent fault of the GPS system (satellites and all). And I'm not sure if the GPS maps update will fix this, but I don't have 100$ to experiment. I don't think it's worth spending 100$, maybe not until our new subdivision actually shows up in the map, or until we get 3D maps like the ones they have in Japan.

So the gps just isn't as accurate as my garmin in my other car? I was hoping it has the same accuracy as the garmins but guess not.

I've never had any problems like that, I find that the GPS is pretty accurate, although it's not the best, the portable GPS for our other car can tell if we are in the HOV lane it is so accurate. But the built-in GPS of the mitsu's is a lot easier to use then the portable ones that I have used, and it's a big screen, I love it on the whole, but if it's worth $1800, I don't know about that.

Remember, you're not buying an $1800 GPS, you're actually talking about the whole MMCS hardware, which is WAY much more than just GPS. Some people say it's a very expensive GPS, it's NOT just GPS, but a MMCS. It may still be a little expensive being a whole MMCS since you may argue you can get a Pioneer or Panasonic for a few bucks cheaper, but what other 3rd party device can replace it's all-in-one functionality (which includes being a system console too)?
