I bought a Tire/Wheel pkg from the dealer when i got my XLS, since the rims are so expensive.  It covers repair/replacement of flats and any severe damage to the rim.

I think any tire mentioned in this post so far would be a good choice.  Honestly though, individual driving styles, perceptions, and expectations will affect the overall feel and performance you have with your tire choice.  I'd go with the least expensive ones listed here and then buy some accessories with what you saved .

MadisonMini, which OEM tires did you have?

Hmmm, not sure, I got rid of them so fast. I have the same car as you, 2007 XLS 4WD.

If there was even a little bit of water on the road, my tires would slip when starting from stand still. And that was after I got the acceleration problem fixed. Much happier with these tires now.

Hi cybergoogle:

At 12K miles do you need to replace your tires????...

What will you gain by getting a 235 instead of a 225 tire..????

Since all of the tires that I have looked at cost between $125.00 & 175.00 ea.  I hope my tires last longer than 12000 miles..

I expect them to last more than 20K.....

i still use OEM tyres Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport RFT  225/55/18.
Excelent tyre if  you are not driving off-road, makes car sticked on the road.

Any suggestions for winter tyre on 16" rims?

Hi zlatko1:

I hope to be in Florida in the winter months and will not need snow tires......

You should check out Tire Rack for a selection of winter tires and information...That is who I have been getting information from.....

Zlatko: I bought my Outlander delievered from the dealer with Cooper Arctic Claw Studded 215/70/16 which I drove on during winter (in Sweden) - Good grip, but as with studded tires, pretty noisy, especially now that I have the H/P sports on.
