Looks like the Australian version gets the config from the DVD.

as you can see it has alldata.kwi and loading.kwi but not the other files

Very insteresting ALLDATA.KWI ... As it looks here, the navi DVD looks very different from a Mitsubishi ''classic'' navi ...
Can I download loading.kwi (at least) to put it on the site for Otaku (if he has time for it) ?

I tried to watch a movie without the the MAPS DVD in the DVD player and it said caution please install MAPS DVD,so there is definately something it gets from the DVD when trying to watch a movie

Is very possible for the navi DVD to act as a hdd from the perspective of storing loading.kwi which contains the dvd player program.

I should clarify, the sound of the movie could be heard but no picture could be seen. Here a picture of the Australian version of the MMCS. as you can see it looks different then the US models.
