OK, what is it???  What is the oil filter # for a 2008 2.4l Outlander that Wally World (Walmart) might carry.

Only the 3.0l is listed.  Thanks.

Kelvin

If it's a new car under warranty why save a few $$'s get yourselve a proper mitsubishi oil filter,  I had a cheap filter on a mitsubishi a few years ago and it was blown apart within 10 miles from the repair shop.  Luckly for me the engine did not seize.

Cheap oil filters are cheap for one reason their crap. The insides are made for paper instead metal filters/grill to filter the oil. Have a big enough peice of metal it will make a hole in a cheap filter and instead of catching it will go back in to the engine to do more damage.

also cheap oil filters dont have pressure release valve inside so as in my case the filter just exploded and dumped oil all over the road since then I have always use oem filters

Filters are cheap engine repaires are expensive I know which I would choose

Purolator, K&N, and Wix show the 2.4 with the same filter as the 3.0L, but FRAM and Champ Labs (who makes a lot of different branded filters) has a different number.  Champ shows the specs and they have the 2.4 filter as slightly wider and shorter than the 3.0.  The threads are the same

Either way,the 3.0 filter would probably work..the diffrence is slight and oil filters really aren't rocket science.

Any decent (including WalMart filters) in North America have anti-drainback valves..I've never heard of any that don't...but it might be a good idea to ask the dealer if they are the same part number from Mitsubishi and/or check with an Auto Parts store

Fram filters are a no no. They have cardboard inside and may come loose and go in the engine. I only have 500 miles on my Outie so I have yet to decide what filter I will be using.
