Depending on what year your mirage is, it may have the same engine as my Expo. The 93-96 Mirages have the same 1.8 liter SOHC 16 valve 4G93 as my 92 Expo. Try reading through what I've done to mine and the results so far in this thread
http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_21300/mpage_2/key_/tm.htm#21933

I've got a more mods that I'm planning on doing in the near future - just waiting on parts. I'm going to install a bigger throttle body from a 2.4 liter 4G64 next. Found and bought it from a wrecking yard through car-part.com for $40 + $10 shipping.

Next I'm going to try installing the MAF sensor that matches that throttle body. I found one at a local wrecking yard for $15.

Then I'm going to install an adjustable cam gear. Found one on eBay for $46 + $16 shipping.

The last thing I have planned to try is to connect a resistor and a switch in paralell with the engine coolant temp sensor so that I can flip a switch and make it go into "warm up" mode - which will make the air/fuel mixture richer and advance the timing.

My plan is to do each mod one at a time, then drive and test it for about a week to evaluate the results before doing the next mod.

I will continue reporting results of each mod in the thread listed above. Stay tuned......

HaHaHaHa, no, no boost. I WISH!

My DD is what I'm working on here - but it has potential to be the ultimate sleeper. A 92 Expo LRV AWD (micro van) with the 1.8 liter Single Overhead Camshaft, 16 valve, MPI, 4G93 engine. 113 HP/116 ft-lbs of torque. No DOHC, no turbo, not even meant to be a performer. Meant to be a soccer mom's grocery-getter!

It has possibilities though - especially with the AWD. I want to get as much as I can out of this little engine without breaking the bank AND while keeping it naturally aspirated. I'd love to turbo it, but with 100k+ already on the clock, I'm afraid it probably wouldn't hold up too long if I did. Besides, the W5M33 5-speed tranny in it is a little on the weak side, and harder than heck to find a replacement for. It probably wouldn't last too long bolted up to a turbo engine either.

No, I'd be happy to get to somewhere around 150 HP and a comparable amount of torque. The mods I've made so far have probably boosted it up to around 120-125 HP. If I can squeak another 20-30 HP AND ft-lbs torque out of it on a low budget, I'll be more than happy.

put performance oil pump or maybe some performance heads. you can replace em by your self and this will definiely add more HP especially TORQUE. just my suggestion.

the car has 1 head and 1 cam. these arnt mustangs were talking lol. since I know you are a stang guy

I am not sure if you can get 150WHP on a low budget. your not at 125WHP I dont think. if factory states 113BHP then there is a % lost from that when you figure what you got at the wheels. unless you are at 113 at teh wheels stock then I am wrong. but a Cam and high compression pistons is what I think youll need and a full exhaust and maybe you can come close to what your looking for with this and some other toys but that will be a tough feet. and if you are going to need pistons why not get some to go with a turbo install.
