Hey guys, I have a 2001 Eclipse GT with the electric sunroof. For some reason my sunroof doesnt like to lift up all the way before it slides back. So in order for me to open it, I have to pull back on the switch till the window gets stuck and then kind of punch it out and then it slides the rest of the way back. It seems to me like the back of the glass is getting caught on the lip of the car surrounding the sunroof. Anybody run into this before and are there any suggestions?
Thanks!
Kyle

Once you get the sunroof open, check the tracks for obstructions (use a flashlight since shadows can hide just about anything).  I wouldn't think this to be a motor issue, since you can open it after helping it fully open and close it.  Also, check to make sure that there is still some lithium grease in the track groove.

You make it sound like there is an absence of lithium grease in the tracks, lol.  If so, then yes, it will help as long as there isn''t anything stopping it from lifting up on it''s own.

ya, hopefully the grease will work but the seal on the back of the window is catching on the metal lip that is around the sun roof. So idk if that will work but i''m gonna give it a try.

I''ve had the same exact problem with my 2000 Eclipse GT. It was still under warranty when it started happening, but the dealership refused to fix it without charging me because they said it wasn''t "broken", but just out of alignment. It seems to come and go, and I''ve just gotten used to giving it an extra nudge when it doesn''t fully open before retracting.

If you find out how to fix it yourself, please post a "how to". As long as it''s not to complicated, I''d like to try to take care of it myself.

Thanks,
Larz
