I have a 03 Eclipse GTS (V6) that runs 2.50 sec. in the 60'. I had a 03 Ford ZX2 (4 cyl.) that ran 1.98 sec in the 60'. Both auto trans. Could somebody tell me why?

Could be a weight difference, Ford uses **** metal that doesn't weigh much so it's prob. lighter. maybe the turbo on the eclipse was turned way down, like 2 or 3psi, make it 10 or 15 with a boost controller and boost gauge.

I don't have turbo. The 03's don't come with it. My guess is you're probably right about the weight issue but i don't see how it could make a difference of half a sec.

The peice of **** ford is also only a 4 inline instead of 6 cylinders in the V. overall the Ford is a smaller car, engine is smaller, body is smaller, it's just lighter.

I thought all GST's came with turbo, in the 2ng gen eclipses (95-99), the t means turbo, GS-Turbo. but i guess it's not the same for 3rd gen.

DSMTalonAWD51- he never said why don't they run the same...he must be confused as to why some peice of **** ford crap can beat an eclipse that has a bigger engine.

the 3g is GTS the 2G is GST..GTS uses high compression pistions compared to the GT and has a different intake manifold overall difference is the GTS has 10 more HP than the GT. However if you did turbo charge these 2 models the GT is better for it. the GT can hold up at a 8-10 PSI tune without any trouble the GTS is only good for 6 PSI at most without the pistons being replaced. Both models use the same rods and they are storng enough fo around and over 500WHP.

as far as the times the ford did better cause it weighed alot less and has alot less tourqe, which means no as bad wheel hop to slow you down.
