hi i was wondering if you could help me with a technical question for my pajero
i have A 94 v6 3.0l petrol pajero.
There is an engine light on (orange) , when i take it to places they cant get any codes out of it, it says it cant connnect.
anyways it works fine except for this: sometimes it wont start, when its cold or hot, it stinks of fuel and has a spark. i have changed the fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. now to get to start i block the fuel inlet and then the car is starved of fuel and then starts. then it works fine. i should also mention that this does not happen all the time. so could it be leaking injector? ECU , air flow sensor, themostat, or something else?

It sounds like your car is starting too rich (which is why when starved for fuel it turns over fine and why you have a heavy dose of fuel fumes during start up). I would check your air intake tract and possibly your o2 sensors. They may be sending a lean reading to the ECU and then the ECU is giving more fuel.
On the other side of that, you could just have a dirty intake tract literally not giving the motor enough air. Then you have your throttle linkage, if that is stuck open just enough, it will act as if you had your foot on the gas pedal ... although I don''t think it works quite the same with fuel injected cars as it does with carburated cars, lol. Regardless, before you start the car, blip the gas pedal to get the cable back (if it is the culprit) to 0%.
Another thought is that you could have a really dirty throttle body, intake manifold, filter, tract, etc.
That''s all I can think of right now, but it''s a start. :)

You probably have a bad coolant temp sensor, b/c when they go bad they tell the ecu that its colder then it really is and dumps fuel and causes a hard start and rich condition.
Its not the o2 sensors b/c when the car fisrt starts up it goes into "open loop" and ignores any 02 sensor signals.
Check the fuses, sounds like your not getting power at the dlc. Then check it again for codes.
