First off let me say hello. I''m new to these forums and hope ya''ll can help us out. I''ll be posting on here for issues on my mom''s car.

Now onto the issues.

My parents were out and while driving the car started overheating. Not sure why but my dad kept driving thinking it would get better. Eventully it blew a hole in the rad. It was towed home and would turn over but not start. My dad made some calls and after talking to mitsubishi they told him to make sure there was water in it. They said monty''s have safety switches and if theres no oil or water the car will shut down and not run. We put water in it and now it won''t even turn over. We turn the key and get nothing. Our local garage seems to think that after we put water in it that it filled the cylinders due to cracked heads.

Anybody have any ideas of stuff we can check?

Who ever told you the water in the cylinders thing is a freakin moron, and they need to be kicked in the nuts.

If you want to disprove that for yourself, then simply remove the spark plugs and try and crank it. There for, no load on the engine, and it would crank. I guarentee you it wont make a difference.

Its possible that the leaked water could have ruined some electronics in the ignition components. Make sure power is getting to your starter etc...

yep sounds like water in the dylinders  remove the spark plugs and turn it over then you eill know that it is the heads/head gasket dont let the water sit in the cylinders to long or it will rust the cylinders up

first, there are no "safety devices" to shut down the engine.  Thats what the little thing on the dash called a "gauge" is for.
people are suppost to know enough to stop driving if it overheats.

chances are the cylinder heads are completely destroyed, and if in fact the engine has ingested coolant, theres a good chance of lower end damage, too.

tell your dad this... 1) if there an oil light on, dont drive. 2) if the car is overheating, dont drive. 3) if the car is on fire, get out of it.
