all right the evo bug has bit me. I drive a a4 right its a 01 with 95k miles its a fun car but due to the age more things or dying (lcd cluster, power steering makes doises, my cel is back for my test pipe, paint had dings etc )  and its not worth it in my eyes to put money into a car that im getting bored with. I always liked the evo and now im looking to buy one. I have a fuel questions i didnt find in the faq''s.
1. What is your fuel economy?
2. How is reliabilaty?
3. How hard is the ride?
4. How expensive are parts?
5. How is the build quality?
6. I know that mods are plentiful for this car but are they pricey (mods were plentiful for the a4 due to the 1.8t being popular ind vdub world but prices were huge i mean 400 dollars for a intake http://goapr.com/Audi/products/intake_carbonio_b5a4.html?
7. I hear that mr''s end up having problems with the trany do  regular 8/9''s have tranny problems?
8. How good is the factory sound system?
9. How much do you par for insurance?

thank you in advance

answers.

1) sucks stock,,, stuck again when making 400+hp,  ok with stock turbo and a tune.  maybe 21-24MPG at most 300miles to a tank is my best,  and worst with no tune bone stock was 220 to a tank

2)they are pretty good, drivetrain is the weakest link.  my car was 400+hp the new owner is running 11.5s at 124 without and issue though (closer to 500HP now)

3)not sure what you mean,  its not luxo box.  the car is a sports car and it can get un comfy and rough even more so with alot of mods

4)they are mid range. german cars are expensive jap cars are so so.  I mean it depends what you want for parts.  AMS turbo back exhaust is closer to $1000 when megan is $500 and intakes are not needed for a long time on Evos the stocker works better than aftermarket untill you make big power

5)as far as the motor they can handle 500-550WHP stock.  interior is a little lacking but isnt that bad

6) is this the same as #4?  just search places like Buschurracing.com and automotosports.com

7)MR 6spds SUCK.  the 5spds are ok.  all of them can have syncro problems is not maintained well.

8)factory is ok for someone who doesnt bump it,  It was perfect for me(most disagree)

9) mine cost $900 a year so like $80 a month and I was 23 with clean record.

it comes down to it you NEED to maintain the car, they are maintanence WHORES.  Im talking plugs every 6k miles, tranny and Tcase fluid needs to be done every 6k miles rear end ever 12k ect ect This is the only why to keep your drivetrain in the best shape you can.  the Tcase and tranny fluid is important to change often.

The weakest part stock is the clutch and for the VIII the BOV as well.  the clutches on average were only lasting like 25k from the people who race.  mine got taken out at 40k and it was still pretty decent,  i upgraded because I was slapping in a big turbo and a bunch of other toys
